How The Midwest Fashion Foundation Was Born

The Midwest Fashion Foundation, a non-profit organization founded in 2006, was born out of recognition that the Midwest was exploding with talent. The founder, Berny Martin, is a fashion professional of considerable experience. Realizing the importance of a strong network of professionals within the fashion industry that is crucial to a collection's success, a database of contacts was compiled. In launching the foundation, a Midwest fashion committee has laid the infrastructure for a one-stop, Midwest-based powerhouse.

It is one that would assist young designers in honing their lines and in expanding their businesses. In addition, the Midwest Fashion Foundation will provide a professional forum for shows, one replete with the staging and atmosphere that would grab the attention and more importantly, respect of the fashion community.

The Midwest Fashion Foundation isn't just committed to design. It is intended to be of service to the community as a whole, presenting innovative and educational opportunities that will teach young people about careers in both the creative and business sides of fashion.
